On a crisp evening in the heart of Springfield, nearly 70 souls gathered at St. John’s Episcopal Church for the much-anticipated Lenten Fish Fry, sponsored by the dedicated members of the Order of St. Vincent. With the enticing aroma of freshly fried fish filling the air, the event proved to be more than just a meal — it was a celebration of community, faith, and fellowship.

As parishioners and friends alike filled the parish hall, the warmth of laughter and conversation blended seamlessly with the rustle of paper plates and the sizzle from the fryer. Volunteers from the Order of St. Vincent worked tirelessly to ensure every guest was well-fed, serving up generous portions of golden fried fish alongside hushpuppies and french fries. The smiles on the faces of those in attendance spoke volumes; it was clear that a good time was had by all.

Events like this remind us of the power of coming together. In the spirit of the Lenten season, where reflection and community take center stage, the Fish Fry offered not only sustenance for the body but nourishment for the soul. Whether reconnecting with old friends or forging new bonds over a shared meal, the evening left a lasting impression on everyone who walked through the doors.

St. John’s Episcopal Church continues to be a beacon of fellowship in Springfield, and the Lenten Fish Fry stands as a testament to the church’s commitment to bringing people together. To the Order of St. Vincent and all the volunteers who made this event possible — thank you for feeding both our stomachs and our spirits.
