Our Services

We identify ourselves as a traditional parish which values the entire history of the Church Catholic. Sometimes we refer to ourselves as Anglo-Catholics, and we purposely value the high-church traditions of the Episcopal Church.  At our principal liturgy each Sunday we sing the Eucharist (Mass).  On the seven principal feasts of the Church’s Year we use incense to underscore the solemnity and importance of the celebrations.

Sundays during the seasons of Lent and Advent, Rite I is also used at the 10:30 a.m.liturgy.  On all other Sundays we use Rite II (modern language) at the 10:30 a.m. Mass and the Saturday evening Mass at 4 p.m..

You will find in the church proper the Stations of the Cross, a prayer voltive candle kneeling bench of Our Lady of Walsingham, an ambry in which is reserved the Blessed Sacrament, holy water stoups which the members of the congregation can use to remind themselves of their baptism and holiness of life, and a prominent presentation of a crucifix to help the faithful focus on the passion of Jesus.

Weekday eucharists, morning and evening prayer, and a Thursday healing service have long been traditional at Saint John’s.
